How does the Random Book Club Work?

What is the Random Book Club?
The Random Book Club gives people the exciting opportunity to receive a totally random book once a month from Shaun Bythell’s, The Bookshop based in Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town.
Who can join?
Anyone from anywhere in the world can join.
What kind of books could I expect to receive?
Shaun picks the books each month from the shop stock. The books will be totally random so a mixture of hardback and paperback, fiction and non fiction. There will be no Readers Digest. Books. Books will range from good reading copies to like new condition.
How much does a subscription cost?
An annual subscription costs just £69.
Shipping is free for subscription in the UK.
Books going to the European Union now go with Import Duty Paid so no extra import taxes or postal handling charges to pay!
Shipping internationally is not a problem but does incur additional charges:-
European Union countries £40 shipping making total annual cost £109. Excluding VAT for European Union countries. VAT will be added at check out according to the VAT rate in your country.
Rest of the World £80 shipping making total annual cost £149.
Can I buy a subscription as a gift for someone?
Yes absolutely. A lot of our current members have been gifted their subscriptions. When signing up all you need to do is put the details of the person you are gifting it to into the shipping details. If you would like the first book to arrive around a certain date and a short message included with the first book please put this in the notes of your order and we will do our best to accommodate this.
When will I receive my first book?
You should receive your first book shortly after signing up. Books will be despatched around the middle of each month. In the unlikely event that we experience any technical or unforeseen shipping issues that might delay books being delivered you might receive two books in the one month.
Will I like the books?
Joining the random book club will bring you books that you might never have thought of reading. We hope you enjoy and learn from all the books you receive but remember it is totally random so we can’t act on any complaints about books that you don’t enjoy.
Will my subscription automatically renew?
You will receive an email to let you know you need to renew your subscription. It is then your choice whether you choose to renew or not.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes you can cancel your subscription at any time if you decide you don’t want to receive any more books within the year but please be aware no refunds will be given.
If you sign up but then change your mind within 14 days we will happily refund you minus any costs we have incurred processing your subscription.
Can I change my shipping address?
Yes a shipping address can easily be changed please email info@randombookclub.co.uk with your current address and new address.
How are my details stored and used?
Any contact details you give us will be securely stored in compliance with Data Protection Laws and used ONLY to process your monthly book despatch and when we need to contact you regarding your subscription. They will not be shared with any third parties other than our courier service and Royal Mail.
